BANGAII CARDINALFISH

Banggai cardinalfish is the only member of the family Apogonidae that is diurnal which means they are active during the day and dormant at night.
They live and feed near the bottom of the sea, and usually have a diet of small fish and crustaceans.
The Banggai Cardinal grow to the size of 3 inches as an adult. They also have a very distinct appearance, as their bodies are predominantly silver and white with three vertical stripes that extend into their fins. The fish look like they sparkle with lots of bright white spots.

Unlike most other fish species who commonly release hundreds to thousands of eggs at a time, the female Banggai Cardinalfish only produces a few dozen large eggs which are fertilized externally in the water column by the male.
