BLACKTIP REEF SHARK
CARCHARHINUS MELANOPTERUS
Adult Blacktip Reef Sharks often reach a length of 5 feet, but have been found up to 6 feet long.
Blacktip Reef Sharks mainly feed on small fish, but also eat a variety of invertebrates.
These sharks may be found in large aggregations with other species of sharks, but also spend time alone or in small groups of only Blacktip Reef Sharks.
Did you know?
These sharks travel close to shore, even traveling into brackish waters near the mouths of rivers. They have been found in water only a foot deep!
