BLUE TANG
PARACANTHURUS HEPATUS
Blue Tangs are easily recognized by their royal blue body, yellow tail, and black “palette” design. They average a length of 12 inches.
W hile Blue Tangs can be found throughout the Indo-Pacific they are considered to not be common in any location.
They are commonly known by many names including: Regal Tang, Palette Surgeonfish, Royal Blue Tang, Hippo Tang, Flagtail Surgeonfish, Pacific Regal Blue Tang, and Blue Surgeonfish.
Did you know?
Blue Tangs are the only member of their genus, Paracanthurus.
Conservation status
LEAST CONCERN (LC):
Less likely to become endangered anytime soon.
