Green Iguanas are herbivores that eat fruit, leaves and flowers. Though Green Iguanas spend much of their time climbing and eating in trees. They are also excellent swimmers.
Iguanas can live up to 30 years, weight up to 11 pounds, and grow to be 6 feet long! They are also able to leap 40 feet from a tree, and land on the ground safely.
Their long tails are used for balance and defense; if an iguana feels threatened or can’t escape a predator it will use its tail as a strong whip.

Iguanas have 3 eyes! The third eye is called a parietal eye and is located on the top of the iguana’s head. This eye is sensitive to changes in light levels. It is used to monitor light, heat and shadows.
