The number of bands an Armadillo has denotes the specific species. Som e species have three bands, while others have five or nine bands.
The Six-Banded Armadillo is an omnivore and feeds primarily on ants, insects, carrion, small invertebrates, fruits and nuts. They tend to have poor eyesight so these
armadillos rely on their sense of smell to detect prey and predators.

Only Three-Banded Armadillos can roll into a ball! All other species of armadillo will bury themselves in dirt and underbrush to hide from danger.
